Family Traditions

Hey Everybody!
Stopping in to say "Hello" and wish you a week filled with wonder. Pumpkin carving was the weekend activity.
We are learning some new tunes for our November 8th gig - the 2nd Saturday afternoon at The Saloon. It will a Guitarmaggedon for sure!

Freedom Friday: 10.24.25

Hey Everybody!

Strange times, these. "I've been more than a bit distracted..." can you name that tune? Hint: I wrote it and it needs an update. Working on working it into the set.
My bandcamp cannot take payments at this time, because they switched up the payment system and I haven't been able to update it yet. If you have been trying to give me money, thanks for your patience.

As for the song's subject matter, I do my best to pay attention, but not too much attention to be led to despair. Been there, done that. Doesn't work for me. I am best served by creating joy.
And speaking of creating joy, I'm in the midst of several projects, and seeking at least a part time steady day gig, or sone more paid projects.  I can offer communication services, write, make flyers, gift wrap, serve at an information booth, make signs, social media, tend bar at events (I don't drink alcohol, so no worries about be dipping into the profits.)
Oh, and I'm available for recording as well!
The thing is, I'm flexible, available and I take care of myself, so am pretty healthy (knock wood.) I currently only have a once a month afternoon gig on a Saturday.  We do try to see the kids and grandkids at least once a week, and that is usually a Sunday. Call me or text me: 415-789-MARI
Something on my mind, that I thought worthy of a share:
This happened on October 23rd. Please call your elected representatives. Remind them that they work for US and you do not want to see our public lands being destroyed for short term profits. Then, if you can afford it, please donate to Earthjustice.

There's more, of course, but this seems urgent, and there is so much bad being thrown at us, I'm taking it one crisis at a time.
We are all we've got. Let's take care of each other. Spend time with people you love and admire, and be grateful for the time you got to spend with loved ones who are no longer here.
Be sure to create some joy for yourself. Sending love.

Mari

Monday Morning Musings : Pumpkin Patch, No Kings : 10.20.25

Hey Everybody!
Next music gig, we are back at The Saloon, for our "Second Saturday afternoon" monthly residency. 4 - 8 pm. Guesting for Richard will be Craig Caffall for another "Guitarmaggeddon" edition of LLK.
Weekend Recap:
Hope you had an enjoyable weekend. It was a busy one for me. Friday started with a photo shoot, and rather than attempting to wrangle the whole band, I went solo for this one. It was relatively chill and painless, thanks to Markelle Palombo and her enthusiasm and expertise.
She did a fun time lapse. You can watch it here.
The location of the shoot is also where I'm going to be working on my Artsboretum  project, art for future albums and creative community. And who knows? Maybe I will get to that "vehicle for change" art car! Just need some funding.

Saturday, Arne and I joined the millions of concerned citizens around the world for the prodemocracy, anti-authoritarian "no kings" rally. I love that he joined me for this one. If logistics had been favorable, we would have been among the throngs in SF, but we played it close to the home base. We do what we can, folks. It's all any of us can do.
It was a joyful experience, and I noticed many friends posting pics to prove they were also in attendance. We love our country and want it to stay a democracy. It was a bit hot, and I grabbed a selfie mid melt.

Sunday, it was pumpkin patch time and that was a completely different type of joyful experience. The "G kids" are fun to watch. When the two year old was done, we were all ready to go home!

Anyway, that's all for now. Take care of yourself and whoever and whatever else you can. We are all in this together, whether we realize it or not.

Mari

Saturday October 11th in San Francisco | Jane Goodall

Hey Everybody!

Thanks to everyone who showed up on October 3rd at Lucca - we had a great time and, based upon the response and feedback, so did the crowd!  Such a fun place.

Speaking of fun places, we are back at The Saloon this Saturday, 10/11, from 4 - 8 pm. If you are near, stop by and say "Hi!"
That said, there is a Netflix show called "Famous Last Words - Dr. Jane Goodall" If you haven't seen it yet, please give it a look and listen. It may inspire some hopeful feelings. Goodness knows we can use more hope these days.
And live music!

A Few Things...

Local happenings first - we are celebrating our dear friend Myron tonight at The Saloon.
Food starts at around 6 pm, and the cake lighting is scheduled for 8:15
Music wise, Jose Simioni holds the regular Wednesday slot, and he usually  starts playing at 4:30 pm. If you have never heard him, you might want to check him out. Jose  is talented as well as skilled and is always accompanied by players who are more than competent. For you late night folks, My Blue Soul follows (or continues) the festivities at 9:30 pm.
(I made the flyer, by the way. If you need some help with social media content, etc., contact me. I'm also available for other gigs between gigs. And more music gigs, as long as they are not on a Sunday after our second Saturday Saloon show. I need my proper vocal rest.)

Secondly, if you have been hiding under a rock or so busy working to pay the bills that you missed the whole FCC/Disney debacle, Jimmy Kimmel is back on the air, although in 80% of previous market. Reason being, Sinclair and Nexstar (I think I got that right, pun intended) are still refusing to air his show. If you haven't watched it yet, check it out on You Tube

That's all I have for now. I usually like to keep this blog for music related "stuff" - you can find more music links on the band linktree.

That said, if you want to read my ramblings about life and current events,  please subscribe to my other "stuff" - you can find anything and everything on my personal linktree:

Again, hope you have the best possible day.

Sending love and light.

Saturday. September 13th, San Francisco

Hey Everybody,

First things first:
We have a change in the lineup for this weekend, 4 - 8 Saturday at The Saloon! Sorry about the confusion, but life happens. Herman had a mishap, so is not able to commit to the gig, but says he may stop by and say "hi!"

Instead, we will present another installment of "Guitarmaggedon" as Craig Caffall will be easing back into the scene as he and Dave Powell trade licks and we celebrate life, love and friendship through music!
I imagine Craig and Arne will exchange heart stories.
Myself on vocals and Martin on drums.

Life is so precious. May you be grateful for all your pleasant experiences, and grateful that you survived the "not so great" stuff.
We sure are.
Speaking of great stuff:
I stopped by the Sweetwater blues jam and then we spent some time with the grandkids, which was delightful and exhausting at the same time.

I remain committed to doing what I can to make sure they inherit a more organic and peaceful world.

We have lots of work to do in that regard.

Remember this: create joy whenever possible.

Ox,
Mari
