Happy Leap Day Everyone!

How wonderful to have an extra day to be grateful, an extra day to tell our friends and family we love them, another day to use our powers for good!

We watched the Oscars last night, thought Chris Rock was a riot and a half.

Opinion about the choice for Dave Grohl accompanying the memoriam - not my choice.
Sorry Dave, happy that you are so successful and busy and seem to be the go to guy for these award shows, but please. Was Paul McCartney not available for the Oscars? Tracy Chapman would have been a better choice, imho. Mara suggested Jennifer Hudson. I guess it's a generational thing.

I was thrilled to see "Spotlight" win for best picture. It was a great film and a story that needs to be told. We need to stop sweeping these bad things under the rug. Real life journalism is a worthwhile endeavor that needs more investment. Otherwise, every quality writer will end up in a government PR office to pay the bills. Investigative journalism has been taking hits along with science journalism these past few years or more. Speaking of which, here is a good story on that :

The pendulum swings one way, then the other.

On the music front, the LLK album is on the backburner as I plunge into the Marin Supervisor race.

Thankfully, Arne has his hands full with the Tomas D project, so he is not trying to get me to write more songs that I am not ready to write. I love my husband with all my heart and am grateful that he views my musical talents as a rare gift the world needs to hear, but I have a tendency to go where I feel I am needed and can be of most use - which explains why I thrust myself into that dreaded sidewalk mess in 2010 just about the same time we released "Can't Go Back." Long story and I'll let you in on that as time goes by.

Here is Tomas' video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28uoRuE5Cqc

Check it out and please share. Tomas has some really great songs in the works. Arne has an ear for talent. He's worked with some of the greats and knows quality.

Dear friend and Artista sister Honey Green is hosting a fundraiser for my campaign on March 5th at noon at the Fireside, 115 Shoreline Highway in Mill Valley.

If you want to support my campaign, you may make a donation at http://www.maritamburo.com

If you want us to be able to live in the meantime, please buy some of my music.

Leap forward!

ox,
Mari
